Welcome to St. Kitts! Where monkey's roam free, mosquitoes are as big as pterodactyls, and sea and sky seem endless! I'm trying not to make any judgements yet but it is still hard being away from home. Andrew is such a blessing and I would be lost without him. He is being so sweet and taking such good care of me.
Now I know I said that I loved dorm living while in college but this dorm room is much different! But that is ok! We have rearranged some furniture to make it a little better. We've at least managed to put out a few picture frames of friends and family. We still aren't completed settled because our bags are still M.I.A., but I know they will turn up. Tonight Andrew gets to meet several other students and we will have a chance to go grocery shopping and pick up a few necessities...like deodorant because that is in the lost luggage. Oh and all of our shower stuff too; thank goodness for hotel shampoo and bar soap!
We were homeless for about 3 hours today. We had to checkout from the hotel by 12 noon but the dorms didn't open until 3 pm. Thank goodness they at least allowed us to put our luggage in our room! Andrew and I spent most of the time on a lovely patio over looking the water. We were soon run off by the rain but we were able to sit in a lobby with a TV.
We were told we are not allowed to take pictures on main campus because of an issue with PETA a few years ago(They ruin things for everyone!). But Jose, our campus leader, said we may take a few pictures of the water as long as no one see's us. I will post pictures of our dorm room later. We do have one nice turquoise accent wall....
Watch out St. Kitts, here we come! Andrew was accepted to Veterinary School at Ross University down in St. Kitts. So here it goes! Life in the Caribbean for the next 2 1/2 years. So Proud of him and all he has accomplished. Bring on the adventure!

T - Minus....
Four days until we leave for St. Kitts! Excited...yes! Nervous...yes! We still have a lot to get done before we leave. Packing being one of them. We are spending Christmas with Andrew's parents and then heading to Raleigh tomorrow afternoon to be with my family. Lots of emotions but mostly stressed about getting everything accomplished before Wednesday.
We leave from RDU at 6:50 Wednesday morning and will fly into Miami. From Miami we will fly into Puerto Rico and then finally by 3:45 pm arrive in St. Kitts.
Good thing I loved living in the dorm because that is exactly where we will be for Andrew's first semester. They require all students(without children) to live in the dorms. This will be great though, Andrew will be close to other students and classes. Unfortunately Duke (our dog) will not be coming with us first semester because pets are not allowed in the dorms. Our "dorm room" will have two bedrooms, a small kitchen, private bathroom, and living room. The dorm comes furnished which makes the move a lot easier! We will have our basic necessities which is the important thing! Here is a picture of a single occupancy dorm room. A view of the ocean every day!
More to come in a few days! Merry Christmas Y'all!
